Kerala: World Food Programme addresses nutrition during the crucial first 1000 days of life

Project Highlights

  • WFP India’s project in Integrated Child Development Services Centres in Wayanad, Kerala, reaches out to children with fortified food during their first 1000 days of life. This helps reduce micronutrient deficiency disorders amongst children, giving them a nutritious start in life.

  • Currently the Wayanad project reaches 2,900 children and upon scale up the project has the potential to reach all children between 6-36 months in Kerala (3,90,504 children) availing the government’s ICDS Scheme.

  • The project will improve complementary feeding practices amongst children which is crucial to their physical and mental development.
